Finally!!!

Finally finally made it to Yello River again for a campout this weekend. A short adventure due to the rain forecast. But we had perfect weather for riding on Sat and early this am before eating breakfast and loading back up, rain hit just as we were driving back. I took Pheonix and she did very well. I rode her last weekend after her refresher course and this weekend she was very good. Full of energy of course, and we had a big spook at the beginning of the first ride but I stuck thru it and on we went. I wish I couldve stayed longer and been able to take some pics but had left the camera behind. By today's ride she was nearly perfect and acting like she'd done it for years and no more worrying about things from yesterday's ride. Hoping to go again on my next weekend off...

Training

It has been awhile so here's an update! Dusty has been at the trainer Ray's for 2 weeks now and doing wonderfully. He's a little more high-strung than my others, due to his arab-ness lol, but he's coming along. Last night I took Pheonix there for a refresher course before she gets ridden. What a sucky year, nobody of mine has been ridden yet cuz work has been so fricken nuts. But I'm hoping to at least get some time in before snow flies! Pheonix remembered everything so tomorrow I plan to ride her on a trail ride there and then bring her home. Gearing for a weekend away- hopefully next week- of nothing but me & her and time in the woods with nothing else to think about but where we *finally* are....

rainy spring

and everything is so delayed!! Usually by March we get a break from snow and such and even though the weather is iffy I usually get my gear ready for another round of riding. Today is the first of June and I still havent ridden!! Nor is my gear all ready, and by that I mean tack all cleaned and oiled, though I did get a start at it a week ago. But the herd is knee deep in grass, all the rain we've had really made it grow! It has just been nuts between work and 4H projects that riding time has suffered. This weekend is more 4H events so I wont get to ride but I'm hoping to get some things lined up. As it is, June has been booked for me and part of July. My hope at this point is the rest of summer wont be so bad and fall will be good and long. I need a get-away with just me and my horse!
